He has since become a go-to expert in the Construction, Oil & Gas and Energy sectors, leading HSSE strategies across complex global projects. As Founder and Director of 2020 Safety Training, Kelvin combines his multi-faceted experiences, military discipline, engineering expertise, and advanced safety qualifications to deliver impactful training and consultancy.
A Chartered IOSH member, dual engineering graduate, and qualified teacher, Kelvin is passionate about shaping the next generation of safety leaders. Salvatore Sgarlata is an experienced safety professional and global trainer with over 20 years of leadership across diverse industries and international settings. As Operations Manager at 2020 Safety Training, he brings a hands-on, people-focused approach to safety, specialising in tailored training programs and workforce development.
Salvatore has delivered safety consultancy and training around the world, helping organisations build effective Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS), conduct risk assessments, and implement emergency procedures. His practical expertise and adaptable leadership style make him a trusted partner in creating safer, high-performing workplaces across cultures and sectors.
Helen Blackburn
Helen Blackburn is a standout trainer and Health and First Aid Lead at 2020 Safety Training, with over 20 years of hands-on nursing experience in the NHS. As a registered nurse who has worked in ICU, high-dependency, and community care, Helen brings real-world urgency and authenticity to every training session.
Her daily exposure to life-saving interventions—such as CPR, critical care, and patient recovery—translates directly into her teaching. Helen doesn’t just teach first aid and health care; she brings it to life with powerful, practical insights drawn from years on the frontline.
