The ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Health and Safety Management and Leadership, is designed to develop the high-level strategic vision and leadership skills needed to drive safety culture at the highest levels, to be a key decision-maker who shapes and influences the future of health and safety within any organisation.

Who is this qualification for?

The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice qualification is aimed at candidates who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures day-to-day in their organisation. They may be a staff member, supervisor or manager looking to improve their knowledge and skills.EQF / NQF level 7 (European Qualification Framework / National Qualification Framework UK)

This is an equivalent to a postgraduate Masters Degree.

Achieve CertIOSH then progress to CMIOSH (completion of your CPD with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).

This qualification is competence based, where candidates demonstrate the level of competence described in the units.

What you should expect from this qualification

This qualification provides a comprehensive framework for understanding and applying strategic management principles, leadership techniques, and organisational strategies.

Expected time dedication

You have up to 18 months to complete the qualification.
Average completion time: 8-12 months.
Time dedication: 500 hours approx (250 of which guided learning)

Assessment method

This qualification is competence-based, candidates must demonstrate the level of competence described in the units. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

The qualification must be internally assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor.

Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

Evidence can include:
– professional discussion
– witness testimony
– reflective accounts
Learning outcomes set out what a candidate is expected to know, understand or be able to do.

Assessment criteria specify the standard a candidate must meet to show the learning outcome has been achieved.

Assessments are carried out remotely by an assessor who will give feedback via email on completion of each module – you cannot fail! Simply re-upload the files once the amendments are made and resubmit for assessment. Professional discussion carried out over MS Teams.

Entry requirements

An English verbal and writing proficiency, to allow you to discuss and write reflective accounts regarding your work activities.

You operate at a strategic level, where responsibilities include organisational management, management system oversight, risk management, investigations and business impact assessments from a HSE perspective.

You are involved in various aspects of workplace emergency response.

This diploma is ideal for Health and Safety Directors, Managers, Consultants, and other senior professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge and enhance their strategic abilities in health and safety management.

It is really down to the learner: the duration of the qualification varies depending on individual progress, but it typically takes between 4 to 12 months to complete, but up to 18 months is permitted. But there are instances where it has been completed in a matter of weeks. Estimated 500 hours.

Our Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Strategic Health and Safety Management and Leadership is aimed at candidates who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures day-to- day in any organisation. It is internationally recognised as a Masters Degree. Auto CertIOSH and lead to CMIOSH and other memberships such as CSCS (black card for example).

No final exam. The diploma is typically assessed through a combination of written assignments, workplace evidence, case studies, and a professional discussion for each of the five units.

Upon completion the learner will receive a coveted Level 7 Diploma in Strategic health and safety Management and Leadership (Equivalent to a Masters).

There is no mandatory renewal period for this Level 7 qualification. However, it is recommended to stay updated with the latest assessor practices and attend refresher qualification and/or seminars periodically (continue with CPD for any memberships).

Yes! This is a level 7 qualification on the Ofqual qualifications framework, therefore this is eligible for ELCAS funding.
