When a high-output polymer plant in the UK identified inconsistencies in isolation practices across its operations, 2020 Safety Training was brought in to deliver a bespoke SIRPS training programme. The goal: to baseline knowledge, realign expectations, and embed safer, standardised isolation procedures across all shifts.
Our Approach
On-Site Review & Audit: We began with a comprehensive audit of existing isolation procedures, documentation, and permit-to-work systems. This included shadowing technicians and reviewing real-world practices against HSG253 guidance.
Gap Analysis & Consultation: Working closely with the client’s engineering and safety teams, we identified key gaps in knowledge, procedural clarity, and consistency across shifts.
Bespoke Course Development: Based on our findings, we developed a tailored SIRPS training programme that addressed both foundational knowledge and site-specific risks—ensuring relevance for both experienced technicians and newer staff.
Shift-Based Delivery: Training was delivered across all four operational shifts to ensure full coverage without disrupting production. Sessions included practical case studies, interactive discussions, and real-world scenarios drawn from the plant’s own operations.
